Calling It Out

A programme for ages 13+ at KS3, 4 & 5 level. Issues covered include harmful sexual behaviours, sexual harassment, sexual assault, pornography, consent, misogyny
  • the concepts of, and laws relating to, sexual consent, sexual exploitation, abuse, grooming, coercion, harassment, rape and how these can affect current and future relationships.
  • how people can actively communicate and recognise consent from others, including sexual consent, and how and when consent can be withdrawn (in all contexts, including online).
  • how to identify harmful behaviours online (including bullying, abuse or harassment) and how to report, or find support, if they have been affected by those behaviours.
  • schools should be aware of issues such as everyday sexism, misogyny, homophobia and gender stereotypes and take positive action to build a culture where these are not tolerated, and any occurrences are identified and tackled. Staff have an important role to play in modelling positive behaviours. School pastoral and behaviour policies should support all pupils.


DRAMA

The programme uses well researched drama with relevant, engaging content to bring the issues to life to introduce or consolidate learning on the issue.

WORKSHOP

These are discussion based and interactive providing opportunity for students to share opinions, develop their learning and know where to get support.

LESSON PLANS

Lesson plans and interactive resources to use on a range of PSHE topics to support your curriculum and prepare and follow up the Loudmouth visit.

SUPPORT

Updates on PSHE with regular tips, ideas and advice on learning objectives. Loudmouth can also support with staff training and consultancy on PSHE.

CONCEPT
Essential new theatre in education programme on harmful sexual behaviours.

The Calling It Out programme supports the ongoing work in schools and colleges to create a culture where sexual harassment and sexual abuse are not tolerated.

OBJECTIVES
Raising young people’s awareness of harmful sexual behaviours.

Calling It Out reinforces to students the vital message of non-tolerance of harmful sexual behaviour. The performance and discussion-based workshop explore where these behaviours are coming from and alternative positive behaviours. The programme raises the groups’ awareness of the huge impacts these everyday incidences of sexual harassment and assault can have on girls and young women and how we all have a role in safely challenging and reporting these behaviours.

OUTCOMES
Increasing students' awareness of harmful sexual behaviours.

The programme aims to raise the students’ awareness of what is harmful sexual behaviour and its many forms, where these behaviours are rooted and the impacts they have on those experiencing them. The programme is designed to challenge these negative attitudes and behaviours and promote equality and respect towards girls and women. We hope that the students will leave the session having learnt basic strategies to support them to safely call out and report incidences of sexual harassment and assault.
