A Step Too Far – Supporting Schools to Tackle Bullying and Beyond
Looking for ways to keep your anti-bullying work fresh and relevant? We can help you...step this way!
Sep 02, 2025
Bullying in schools isn’t new, but the ways it happens is constantly changing. From online harassment to misogyny, sextortion, and prejudice-based bullying, young people today face a wide range of challenges that can impact their wellbeing and learning. It also helps students to use their judgement and recognise when things go too far. The session can help reduce anti-social behaviour and crime, using the drama and discussions to explore when banter can become bullying and bullying can become a criminal offence.
Loudmouth’s, A Step Too Far, programme helps schools address these issues in a relevant and accessible way. Designed for Key Stage 3 students (ages 11–14), the programme combines live theatre with interactive discussion to create a safe space for young people to explore complex topics.
The programme has had some recent updates and a new name (previously available as our Bully 4 U programme) to reflect the latest issues and best practice.
What the programme covers
- Bullying and resilience
- Online safety and sextortion
- Homophobic and sexist bullying
- Sexual harassment
- Hate crime
- The importance of empathy, respect, and safe choices
Why it works
A Step Too Far, uses theatre to make the issues real, memorable, and relatable. Instead of being talked at, students see scenarios unfold and then get the chance to reflect and respond. This approach helps build empathy and resilience while giving schools a practical tool to support their PSHE and RSHE delivery.
Teachers consistently tell us the format improves engagement and sparks conversations that wouldn’t happen otherwise. It’s not about lecturing young people—it’s about giving them the understanding and confidence to make better decisions.
The impact
- Tackles sensitive issues in an accessible way
- Reinforces school messages on culture and anti-bullying policies
- Reduces incidents of bullying and harmful behaviour
- Builds confidence in knowing where to get help and report incidents
- Support staff in delivering challenging topics with confidence
A Step Too Far is about helping young people recognise when behaviour crosses the line—and giving them the tools to step up, not stand by.
