Ofsted Harmful Sexual Behaviour
Ofsted's review into sexual abuse in schools and colleges found that 92% of girls and 74% of boys reported experiencing sexist name-calling, which is often considered harmful sexual behaviour. The findings underscore the need for schools to teach about these issues and ensure that children are taught about sexual consent, exploitation, abuse, grooming, coercion, harassment and domestic abuse.
We know that schools are looking for help with this but that school budgets can make this a challenge.
We have put together a package that could let you reach up to 900 students in a day for the equivalent of £2 per student*.
How would this work?
We would come to you and deliver 3 different theatre in education programmes across the day. Each lasts one hour and focuses on a different aspect of harmful sexual behaviours aimed at a key year group. We can work with up to 300 students in a year group so up to 900 students across all 3 sessions. The hour-long session includes a well-researched, trauma informed drama, a Q&A with the characters and signposting of where to get further support. Schools also get lesson plans, parent resources and a place on an online RSHE training course so that the impact on harmful sexual behaviour in school last long beyond the single day visit.
What content would it cover?
The package would include 3 sessions.**
- A Step Too Far(Suggested for Year 7 or 8)- Covers different forms of control and bullying including sexual harassment.
- Calling It Out(Suggested for Year 8 or 9) - Covers sexual harassment and assault, pressures on all genders and impact on victims and school culture.
- Working For Marcus (Suggested for Year 9 or 10) - Covers child exploitation including grooming and sexual exploitation.
Is it really only £2 per Student?
The price charged is based on a day rate and depends on the number of students but for 900 students it would work out at the equivalent of £2 + VAT per student. So 3 year groups, each with 300 students per year and would be the equivalent of 900 students for £1,800 + VAT = £2 + VAT per student. Smaller schools would be a similar cost so for example, a year group of 175 students per year covering 3 year groups in a day (525 students) would cost £1,400 + VAT, the equivalent of £2.67 + VAT per student.
Any Terms and Conditions?
The sessions have to happen on the same day and so you would need to be able to timetable for that to happen, we would need a space large enough to deliver to each year group. There may be additional costs for schools depending on your location due to travel or accommodation.
